We opened our doors for business on Thursday, April 6, at 4:00 pm with a soft opening. We were excited, nervous, and anxious. Around 4:15 I offered my first tasting to a couple from the Floydada that have a second home in Brownwood. By 5:30 that evening, the bar was busy as we were pouring tastings of our four wines and the tables were filling up, both inside and out. It was so nice watching people enjoying their wine and visiting. While many of them were familiar with our story, they loved seeing it in person and Brian and I loved getting to share it.
As we went through the first week, we focused on learning the software and preparing for our first event – Party on the Patio. We were excited to have Jack-A-Don’s food truck and live music from the Wild Turkeys coming to the event. The community was just as excited as we were. The parking lot was full! Once again, we had family, our son and daughter-in-law, up to help with the event. We even had a friend and his son come up from Round Rock to celebrate with us!
We celebrated our first month this past weekend! Throughout these first 4 weeks we’ve installed 2, 2500 gallon rainwater tanks (of course, we’re still waiting on rain). The bus has been moved to the pavilion area thanks to Rush Automotive and SRT Towing. With the help of Jeff, Stephanie, Valerie, Chuck, and his two boys, we planted our first 400 vines. We added three new bee hives to our property. We have had guests from Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, and New Hampshire and had the opportunity to meet and learn about our area and the people. We have learned about their passions for horses, cars, bee keeping, grandchildren, families, food, and wine. We hosted the Young Leaders of Brown County April Mixer. We have been fortunate enough to be a place where people have come to celebrate their birthdays, 3 year anniversary, 30th year of meeting, graduations, and the life of a loved one.
Standing at the bar, I have loved getting watch people that were strangers when they entered connect in some way and begin conversations. Some lasting for hours!
We know there is a lot to be done, but we are very grateful for the support that we have received from the community and look forward to getting to know you all.
